The first Binsey village fete in living memory on 20th July was a great success. We raised well over two thousand pounds for the repair fund for Binsey church. Very many thanks to all who made the day possible, and to the Dean of Christ Church, for opening the fete.

Magic Wanda and the Gardener and Magic Wanda and the Sculptor are interactive children’s books with accompanying DVDs that encourage children’s creativity! These hardback books are written by Renée Edwards, uniquely illustrated by Bob Gauld-Galliers of Thomas the Tank Engine fame, and the DVDs include features narrated by actress Fenella Fielding.

There is a fortnightly Contemplative Mass on Friday evenings at 7pm in the Lady Chapel of St Frideswide’s. The usual celebrant is Fr David Platt, some time chaplain of the Wantage Convent. This service lasts around half an hour, an includes plenty of space for silence and meditation, and Holy Communion.

St Frideswide’s will be open from 10am-3pm on Saturday 28th June. There will be stalls selling jams, cakes, and other goods to raise money for the St Frideswide in the 21st Century Appeal. Do come and chat about how our appeals are going and our plans for the future. All welcome.

There will be a coffee morning at St Frideswide’s on Saturday 17th May, 10am-12noon. There will be cakes and jams on sale, Fair Trade Goods available, and a chance to have a cup of coffee. All money raised will go to support Christian Aid’s work in development among the world’s poorest nations. All very welcome.
