ST FRIDESWIDE APPEAL
In 2006 we launched the “St Frideswide’s for the 21st Century appeal.” You can donate to the appeal using the button at the bottom of this page.
The aim of the appeal is to raise money for the following projects:
Organ Restoration: Our Hunter church organ is a Victorian instrument of very fine quality, but has not been rebuilt in 130 years of service and will not survive much longer without serious work. The historic restoration of the organ will cost in the region of £60-70,000. The restored organ will allow St Frideswide’s to become a regular venue for musical events, including organ recitals; it will allow local residents to learn and practice on the organ, and re-energise the musical life of the church and the locality.
We have an Organ Appeal leaflet available in PDF format: click here to view side one, and here to view side two.
The Churchyard: Hundreds of people walk by our churchyard every day. We have established a Churchyard Fund to care for and develop the trees, to make the churchyard more visually attractive, and to promote conservation. We are investigating how we can make it a haven for wildlife, with the help of West Oxford Wildlife Group and local schools.
And more: We’d like St Frideswide’s to become used much more for local community events. A big problem at the moment is the lack of toilet facilities. We are looking into the possibilities for this, and would love to know your opinions.
HOW TO DONATE: Your donation would be much appreciated.
